Mahmoud Abbas Arrives in Moscow for WWII Victory Commemoration

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas arrived in Moscow on Thursday at the official invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin to participate in the 80th anniversary celebrations of the victory over Nazism.
Upon arrival, Abbas was welcomed by Mikhail Bogdanov, Russia’s Presidential Envoy to the Middle East and North Africa, alongside officials from the Palestinian Embassy in Russia.
During his visit, Abbas is scheduled to meet with President Putin and other world leaders and dignitaries attending the commemorations.
Accompanying Abbas are key Palestinian officials, including:
- Ahmad Majdalani, Executive Committee member of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO)
- Yasser Abbas, Special Presidential Advisor
- Ahmad Assaf, General Supervisor of Official Media Minister
- Abdel Hafiz Nofal, Palestinian Ambassador to Russia
Abbas’s participation underscores Palestine’s diplomatic engagement in international historical commemorations, amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in the region.
